Words of Thanks

The journey of a lifetime is a phrase often uttered in reflective settings. As I have reached this seminal moment on my journey, I am grateful to the Lord Jesus Christ for His promise never to leave me alone. Having accepted the call to ministry, being licensed and ordained in the 80’s, I am thankful for the opportunities God has given me to serve Him by serving this present age.

Having had the privilege to Pastor two churches for a period of over thirty-five years has truly been a blessing from God. After over twelve years of faithful ministry at Mt. Pisgah a job promotion in 2000 relocated me from Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta to Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins. Shortly thereafter, in April of 2001 I was called to the Central Union Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Valley as their thirteenth pastor. Upon my arrival, Elaine, Danielle and I were received with love, excitement, a well-seasoned team of leaders and a loving people. My prayer to God at that time was that He would allow me to complete my early retirement plans from the USAF Civilian Service and to allow me to pastor the Central Union church for 20 years. As I pen this message for my last CU Connector article as Pastor 23 years later, I give all praise, honor and glory to God and I just want to say Thank You Lord, for all you have done for me, my family and the Central Union family.

He has allowed me to retire from my government job seventeen years ago and now, twenty-three years after receiving the call and letter from Deacon Andrew Carter and Trustee Claude Lawson, I want to thank the Lord and Central Union Missionary Baptist Church for allowing me to serve this amazing, loving congregation for over two decades. God has blessed us to accomplish so many things together while serving the kingdom and making disciples for Christ.

Thank you to each and every person that’s been a part of this God breathed journey. Finally, let me thank my wife for her unwavering love and support during our time as Pastor and First Lady!  Every act of kindness and show of support during our tenure has been appreciated beyond what you might imagine. However, the outpouring of love and appreciation you’ve shown during these retirement activities have clearly been a labor of love. Your love, attention to detail and enthusiasm are unparalleled. I shall forever be grateful to each of you for the love and support shown.

Peace and Love,

K. Daniel Dawsey
